McKay hopes his reformed midfield partnership with Murdocca will help repel former Liverpool giant Robbie Fowler and his North Queensland Fury side when they come to Suncorp Stadium.

Both Brisbane Roar players are likely to be in the same line-up for the first time this season after McKay recovered quicker than expected from a quadriceps tear.

McKay said he was looking forward to reforming the diminutive engine-room combination which has driven Roar since day one in the A-League.

"We've got our midget side out tomorrow," he joked. "It's going to be great, little Massimo and myself.

"Hopefully we can strike that same partnership that we've had in the past four years."

McKay, who missed the last encounter with North Queensland due to injury, said he was really fortunate to have recovered so quickly from injury and have the chance to test his mettle against Fury marquee Fowler.

"He's one of the greatest players to come out of the (English Premier League)," he said. "He scores goals for fun. So it's going to be a challenge but a joy as well."

However, he said the focus would be on the whole Fury line-up, with the Townsville club sitting one point above Brisbane after last weekend's results.

"It's a great opportunity to prove ourselves and get our season back on track," he said.

"We're three points outside the six. You look at Newcastle who have strung three results together and they're two points now clear of the six so that's what we're going to be looking to do."

Ange Postecoglou said he expected a win if the team could couple the effort from Saturday night's loss to Adelaide with more composure in the final third.

"With two games to go this week we can make up a lot of ground with two good results," the Brisbane coach said. "That's the way we're looking at it at the moment."

He said Tommy Oar and Ivan Franjic, who sat out the Adelaide match through injury, were 'under consideration' to return alongside McKay tomorrow night.

Wednesday night's match against North Queensland Fury kicks off at 7.30pm at Suncorp Stadium.
