Ante Milicic played under both coaches during his time in Brisbane and he is looking forward to seeing how the battle for Queensland supremacy unfolds.

Bleiberg has never been publicity-shy and Gold Coast have not been afraid to make bold predictions ahead of their inaugural season.

In contrast, Roar have seen their pre-season dominated by ownership issues rather than football matters.

But Milicic says Brisbane Roar supporters have no reason to go into the new season feeling gloomy about their team's prospects - far from it.

He told au.fourfourtwo.com: "Gold Coast are obviously trying to establish themselves and are doing plenty of talking.

"Roar don't need to talk as much. They are in place, established and have an experienced squad.

"I think that is Roar's big asset. They have a strong playing group with a good mix of experienced heads like Craig Moore. Matt McKay and Massimo Murdocca have plenty of A-League games behind them now as well. You also have a strong coaching staff in Frank (Farina) and his team. They know what the competition's about.

"Yes, they have lost Tahj Minniecon but there are other good youngsters establishing themselves there, the likes of Michael Zullo and Mitch Nichols.

"Also, I think Roar will also have players with a year's knowledge of the A-League behind them, the likes of Charlie Miller and Sergio Van Dijk who did well in their first year.

"So there is that experience I'm talking about. For Gold Coast it is more a case of the unknown, especially with a few of the imports."

But whether loud and talking big is more effective than quiet remains to be seen. Milicic is looking forward to the battles ahead though.

He said: "I don't think there's anything to worry about for Brisbane fans. They can challenge again. As for Gold Coast, I'm sure he will have them playing exciting, attacking football."

Milicic said it was too early to stick his neck on the line as to which of the rivals would finish higher. He said: "We'll have to wait and see. At the end of the day, the table doesn't lie."
