BRISBANE Roar have signed former Perth Glory midfielder Liam Miller, while they have also accepting a transfer request from winger Ben Halloran, who will head to Germany.
Miller has signed a contract with Brisbane until the end of the 2015/16 A-League season, following two years with Perth Glory, where he played 49 games.
Meanwhile Halloran's expected transfer to Fortuna Dusseldorf looks set to be completed within days after his transfer request was approved.
Brisbane head coach Mike Mulvey believes 32-year-old Miller will be crucial to the Roar's A-League campaign next season.
"I see Liam as a key piece to our midfield puzzle, he brings experience and poise and a good work ethic," Mulvey said on Wednesday.
"I can't wait to see how he combines with the talent we already have here at Brisbane Roar."
Miller added that the length of the contract offered by Brisbane was a key factor in his decision to move from Western Australia to Queensland as it would secure his family's future.
"My family were a huge part in my decision to sign for Brisbane and the close-knit nature of the playing group and the whole club made that decision easier for me," Miller said.
"I am confident I can make a difference to this Roar team and I can't wait for pre-season to begin."
Brisbane also confirmed they have agreed to a transfer request from Halloran with the Roar's managing director Sean Dobson claiming the club 'never want to stand in the way of a player pursuing their dreams overseas'.
While Roar have only revealed Halloran is set to sign with a club in the second division of German football, the 20-year-old Cairns-born speedster has been linked with Dusseldorf for a month as the recently-relegated club prepare for life without Socceroo Robbie Kruse, who is on his way to Bayer Leverkusen after an impressive maiden campaign in the Bundesliga.
"We never want to stand in the way of a player pursuing their dreams overseas," Dobson said today. "As a club, we've got a great tradition of footballers forging successful careers overseas.
"We've enjoyed having Ben here and we hope he goes on to do great things in Germany."
Halloran joined Brisbane before the 2012/13 A-League season from defunct club Gold Coast United and went on to play 26 matches, scoring four goals and notching one assist.
Based in North Rhine-Westphalia, a hotbed of football in Germany, which accounted for five of the 18 clubs in the Bundesliga this season, Dusseldorf should be an ideal place for Halloran to further develop his career, especially as they will be playing in the second-tier.
Dusseldorf were relegated from the Bundesliga on Saturday following a 3-0 loss to Hannover, which saw them fall into the drop zone below Hoffenheim, who pulled off an impressive 2-1 win away to second-placed Borussia Dortmund.
► Meanwhile former Roar and Gold Coast United coach Miron Bleiberg will steer the Oakleigh Cannons for the rest of the Victorian Premier League season.
Bleigberg quickly inked a permanent deal after being appointed caretaker coach following the departure of Bill Theodoropoulos.
His first game in charge last Friday was a grand final rematch against Dandenong Thunder which the Cannons lost 1-0.
