The 24-year-old was last week omitted from Marco van Basten's party for the trip to Vienna to face the Euro 2008 co-hosts.

Robben, who made his return to action on Sunday when he came on after an hour of his team's 3-2 Primera Liga defeat to Valencia at the Bernabeu, admits his exclusion from the Oranje squad was a blow.

"I would have loved to play against Austria," the former Chelsea man told Dutch newspaper NRC Handelsblad.

"I am feeling fit. It's a shame I cannot play in the final match before our training camp starts in May."

Robben's club-mate Ruud van Nistelrooy also misses out after undergoing ankle surgery, and joins PSV Eindhoven midfielder Ibrahim Afellay and goalkeepers Edwin van der Sar and Maarten Maarten Stekelenburg on the sidelines.

On a brighter note for Van Basten, he welcomes back AC Milan midfielder Clarence Seedorf, Arsenal forward Robin van Persie and Blackburn defender Andre Ooijer from injuries.

For Austria, defender Emanuel Pogatetz is nursing a slight calf worry and could sit out in order to be fit for Middlesbrough's Premier League game against Chelsea at the weekend.

He told the Evening Gazette: "I travelled back to Austria on Sunday morning but we will see if I will play.

"I had a little bit of a calf problem all last week and couldn't train. Derby on Saturday was the only game I played last week and I don't know if I can play (on Wednesday)."
