Former Sevilla manager Ramos, who took charge at White Hart Lane after the departure of Martin Jol in October, led Spurs to Carling Cup glory last week.

The club still have the UEFA Cup to play for and Keane is hopeful they can push stronger in the Barclays Premier League next season.

Keane, a substitute in yesterday's loss at Birmingham, told Sky Sports' Goals on Sunday: "I think with the squad we have now and the new staff coming in it's set up nicely for the next few years.

"But we have to achieve. It's okay winning the Carling Cup but we need to push on now.

"We have still got a lot to play for this season. Yesterday was disappointing but we have still got the UEFA Cup.

"We had a great relationship with Martin Jol - we don't forget the job he did.

"But the new manager has come in and given us a lot of belief. Regardless of whether we're playing a top team he wants us to go out and win and hopefully you can see that in the performances.

"He is focused on winning all the time. Every manager has that but I think he has it down to a tee. His man-management is unbelievable."

Spurs have had a difficult season in the league and seem destined for a mid-table finish but Keane insists Ramos will not be easing up to concentrate on the UEFA Cup.

The 27-year-old said: "We had a meeting to say the Carling Cup was gone, we have to focus on the league and the UEFA Cup now.

"He said, 'You're all playing for your future, for next season'. That keeps us all on our toes.

"Obviously it didn't work yesterday but the lads know where they stand."

Ramos made five changes at St Andrews and paid the price as Spurs went down to a 4-1 defeat.

With Birmingham in danger at the bottom end of the table, Ramos' decisions could attract criticism from Blues' relegation rivals.

Keane added: "First and foremost you have to look after yourself as a team. We have some important games coming up.

"But we had players coming in who were quite capable of winning that game - it was disappointing to see."

Keane will be working with another new manager soon following former Italy coach Giovanni Trapattoni's recent appointment as Republic of Ireland boss.

Keane, the Republic's record goalscorer with 32 goals from 79 appearances, is looking forward to meeting the new man.

He said: "As a manager he has to have a great CV - and there is no doubt about Trapattoni's.

"I think he'll be great for Irish football. We need someone there who's been there and done it and he's done the lot."
