BRISTOL City have completed the signing of midfielder Gavin Williams from Coca-Cola Championship rivals Ipswich for an undisclosed fee.
The Wales international passed a medical at Ashton Gate yesterday after agreeing personal terms with last season's play-off finalists and has signed a two-year contract.
The move sees Williams reunited with manager Gary Johnson, who also bought the 28-year-old when he was in charge at Yeovil.
Experienced midfielder James O'Connor has become SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY boss Brian Laws' first signing of the summer.
The 28-year-old left BURNLEY at the end of last season after four years at Turf Moor despite being offered a new contract by the Clarets.
O'Connor is set to complete the paperwork on a three-year deal next week and Laws is delighted to have lured the former Republic of Ireland Under-21 international to the club.
Laws said: "He is a proven player at Championship level and brings a wealth of experience to a key area of our team. James will bring an excellent work rate, great attitude, and numerous other qualities to our squad."
BARNSLEY boss Simon Davey has completed a double transfer swoop after signing Argentinian Hugo Roberto Colace and Frenchman Mounir El Haimour.
Colace, 24, joins from Newell's Old Boys, subject to international clearance.
The midfielder captained the 2003 Argentina Under-20 World Cup squad that also included Manchester United's Carlos Tevez and Liverpool's Javier Mascherano, while El Haimour, 27, who can operate as either a left winger or as a left-back, has signed a two-year deal at Oakwell after the Tykes agreed an undisclosed fee with Swiss side NE Xamax.
SWANSEA have confirmed the signing of SOUTHEND winger Mark Gower.
The 29-year-old has signed on a long-term contract after five years at Roots Hall and manager Roberto Martinez believes he will be a hit at the Liberty Stadium.
He said: "We are excited to capture a player with Championship experience."
TRANMERE striker Calvin Zola has joined League One rivals CREWE in a £200,000 switch.
The 23-year-old joined Rovers in the summer of 2004 on a free transfer from Newcastle and scored 18 goals in 107 appearances over four seasons.
Last season he scored five times from 22 starts and 13 substitute appearances and Rovers boss Ronnie Moore insisted the transfer represented good business for his club.
Moore said: "It was a great offer from Crewe and we decided to give Calvin the opportunity to move on.
"He was out of contract at the end of the season and there was a risk he would leave us then for free, so this is very good business for the club.
"It is a very high fee for a player with his goal to game ratio and number of starts."
SCUNTHORPE defender Andy Butler has decided to leave the club after their relegation from the Championship.
The 24-year-old has spent six years at Glanford Park but despite the offer of a new contract has decided to sever his ties with the Iron.
He told the club's official website: "I've decided to leave as it's the best move for me and my family now.
"It's gutting to leave as this is like a second home to me but it's the right time to go."
BOURNEMOUTH midfielder Danny Hollands has agreed a new contract with the relegated Cherries, while BRENTFORD have signed YEOVIL midfielder Marvin Williams, 20, for an undisclosed fee.
LINCOLN have signed former Wigan striker David Graham - a free agent since leaving GILLINGHAM in January - on a six-month deal and are in talks with former Chelsea defender Frank Sinclair, while midfielder Ciaran Toner has agreed a one-year deal with ROCHDALE a day after having his contract at GRIMSBY cancelled by mutual consent.
