The Colombia international, still on leave after the Copa America, is entering the final year of his current deal and that has put a number of clubs on alert.

However, while Whelan has resigned himself to losing Charles N'Zogbia - with a £9.5million fee already agreed with Aston Villa for the winger - as he was in the final year of his contract, the chairman stressed the same did not apply to Rodallega.

"We'll be talking to Hugo when he gets back from the Copa America," Whelan told the Wigan Evening Post.

"As far as I know he's happy here. We'd like him to stay.

"We've not had an offer in for Hugo, and I would imagine Roberto (Martinez) will be keen to get something sorted on that one.

"We do not want to be selling him though - absolutely not."
