Nuri Sahin could make his debut for Liverpool against Arsenal in the English Premier League on Sunday, according to Brendan Rodgers.
Sahin was a transfer target for Arsenal before moving to Anfield on a season-long loan deal from Real Madrid last week.
Now, he is line to make his first appearance for Liverpool when they play host to Arsene Wenger's side.
When asked if Sahin could feature against Arsenal, Rodgers told the Liverpool website: "Yes. Nuri has come here determined to be a success and that's the type of player that we want.
"You see him in training and he's got good technique. He understands the game and he plays with a smile on his face. He's a good guy and he's very intelligent off the field."
With just one point from their opening two league fixtures, against West Bromwich Albion and Manchester City, Rodgers knows that things will not get any easier on Sunday, as his side face another challenging encounter.
"We know the size of the task," he said.
"We've got a very, very difficult game against Arsenal. They have been consistently challenging in the top-four positions for many years and they will be looking to be up there again this year.
"We have got to have 100 percent focus and concentrate on our performance. If we perform well and participate in the game tactically we've got a chance to win."
