Socceroos midfielder Tom Rogic has undergone an ankle operation and will be out of action for two to three months, says Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers.
Rodgers revealed Rogic injured his ankle when he twisted his foot in training, before travelling to London for surgery this week.
The Australian midfielder hasn't played since December 17 when he suffered an ankle injury, but Rodgers had hinted he was close to a return last week.
The injury rules Rogic out of Australia's important upcoming 2018 World Cup qualifiers against Iraq and UAE in March.
"Tom will be out probably for the next few months,β Rodgers said.
βItβs unfortunate as it came at the end of training at the same spot he had it before.
βHis foot stuck in the ground and he did a full twist on it.

βIt was either to go through the same procedure as before or an operation.
βSo he went to London and had an operation and he's on his way recovering now.β
βItβs a big disappointment as he's a player I was looking forward to seeing back playing with the team, but he'll be back for the end of the season.β
It is understood, Celtic are hopeful Rogic will return in eight weeks.
Speculation had mounted about Rogic's fitness earlier this week after he was photographed on crutches at an airport.
Rogic has enjoyed his best season at Celtic, helped by a previously injury-free run.
The 24-year-old had scored 10 goals in 27 appearances in all competitions for Celtic this term.
