Celtic were forced to come from behind twice to take the points and looked destined for a draw when Rogic struck in the 90th minute of the Scottish Premiership clash.

The Socceroo weaved his way through the defence before unleashing a low drive across the goalkeeper to put an emphatic exclamation mark at the end of the seven-goal thriller.

Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers heaped praise on the 23-year-old who has scored 10 goals this season including in last week's League Cup triumph.

“He’s an amazing player, with a real high level of technique and he’s improving his stamina all the time,” Rogers told the club’s website.

“He’s playing in different positions for us but what he can get goals and he’s scoring important goals. His contribution was outstanding.”

A Louis Moult brace had Celtic trailing 2-0 until Callum McGregor and Patrick Roberts restored parity. Lionel Ainsworth quickly volleyed Motherwell back in the lead only moments before Stuart Armstrong equalised and Rogic settled the contest.

Rodgers said:  “I’m absolutely delighted with the result, and the second half performance showed we are a winning team with a winning mentality."

The result puts Celtic eight points clear of bitter rivals Rangers.
