Australia came unstuck in the Sochi heat, falling to Peru 2-0 today.

The Socceroos suffered two losses at the tournament, claiming just one point from a draw with Denmark, meaning an early exit and a bottom-place finish in Group C.

But Rogic, playing in his first World Cup, believes the national team can take a lot from the experience and has improved.

"It’s been a great experience, it’s great to be here," he said in Sochi.

"The feeling right now is disappointment. I thought we’ve made great progress as a team, ultimately our goal was to progress to the next round and we weren’t able to do that. I’m sure we’ll all learn from it, we’ll be better from the experience.

"It’s been great to work with the management and stuff, it feels like they added to what we had built on and they took us a bit further. Unfortunately we just fell short at the end. I enjoyed working with Bert, he’s a good person. He has great experience."

Rogic admitted a lack of finishing against the Peruvians proved costly.

"We probably had a few chances in the first half that we didn’t capitalize on," the number 10 said.

"We’re finding it a little bit difficult to score goals and then we concede – it as a great strike – but that was their only attack in the first half and the next half was crucial and they got it. It kind of killed the game off."

Australia used the same starting XI in all three games, except for the Peru match, with Tomi Juric replacing the injured Andrew Nabbout.

Rogic denied fatigue was an issue for the Socceroos in the humidity of the Fisht Stadium.

"I don’t think so," the Celtic star said.

"We’re all used to playing a lot of our games for our clubs."
