The 19-year-old winger was a revelation for the Phoenix this season, with seven assists and two goals for the campaign.

But after plenty of speculation about his future, Wellington confirmed on Sunday that Rojas would be moving on to join Victory.

"Marco has advised the club he has signed a contract with the Melbourne Victory, and he'll be joining them when his contract expires on March 31," a spokesman told stuff.co.nz.

The Sunday-Star Times claims Rojas will sign a two-year contract with Victory.

Rojas' agent is his father Rodi and he told The Sunday-Star Times that financial reasons were not behind their decision and said the Phoenix tabled the best financial offer.

"At the end of the day, it depends on the coach and what they want to use him for," he said.

"Everyone thinks Marco's a winger. He wants something a bit different. He's an attacking central midfielder. We want to see if he can play there."

Rodi Rojas also revealed there had been plenty of interest for the youngster, including contract offers from abroad.

"We've had a couple of offers from Europe, we've talked about it and the places that are interested are probably not a good place for a young player," Rodi Rojas said.

"I don't think he's ready yet, probably one or two more seasons and he'll be getting close."
