Reports in Italy have suggested that a dressing room split have caused a poor start to the season for the Eternal City club.

Roma coach Luciano Spalletti has been under pressure with Roma having have won just twice in six games in Italy's top flight this campaign to leave last term's Serie A runners-up languishing in 14th place in the standings.

The letter sent by the club and signed by 14 players, excluding those on international duty this week, read: "While not denying that we are going through a difficult time from a sporting angle due to lack or results, our dressing room is healthy and united.

"There are no factions and none of our group members disapprove of the approach, working methods and choices made by the coach.

"The relationship between the team members and the coach is based on affection, respect and reciprocal trust."

Roma host joint Serie A leaders Internazionale on October 19 before travelling to London to meet Group A leaders Chelsea three days later in the Champions League.
