The 27-year-old Barcelona playmaker missed the recent Copa America - which Brazil successfully defended in Venezuela - because he wanted to rest after a long season in Europe.

But Ronaldinho made an immediate impact on his return, assisting Maicon for the first goal and scoring the team's second in Montpellier.

He said: "It was a wonderful return. It couldn't have been better.

"We faced motivated rivals, something which is common when they play Brazil. Despite their extra motivation, we managed to win."

The former Gremio and Paris St Germain man, who returned to Spain after the game to resume training with his club, also stated his intention to be present at future Brazil matches.

He said: "I hope to be called up in the future to defend the national team in friendlies and the (World Cup) qualifiers."
