The former Barcelona ace failed to impress at Flamengo and suffered an acrimonious exit from the Rio de Janeiro giants after cancelling his contract due to a dispute over unpaid wages.

However, he declared himself eager to return to action as soon as possible.

"I'm very motivated, if all goes well and the coach feels that I can play, I want to be available soon," Ronaldinho told reporters.

"I am physically well and until the end of last week I was playing, I'm fine.

"I will do my best to fight for titles and ensure positions in major competitions for Atletico. I have the opportunity to play at a club with great fans and it motivates me to do my best."

The two-time FIFA World Player of the Year has been criticised for his poor form, with some suggesting his partying lifestyle is to blame.

Ronaldinho said the move to Atletico Mineiro represented an opportunity for him to change his life.

"The president saw a good thing in myself and he invited me to come here, to give my best to try to win the title," he said.

"The most important thing to come here was the trust of the president, to change my life and come here."

Ronaldinho could make his debut against Bahia on Wednesday.
