The Brazilian Football Confederation president Ricardo Teixeira has done a U-turn and declared his support for Ronaldo as he attempts to get back into the national side.
The president was quoted last week in the newspaper Estado de Sao Paulo as being critical of the Selecao and in particular Ronaldo, making comments about the AC Milan striker`s weight.
Teixeira told the newspaper: "How much is Ronaldo currently weighing? How much will he weigh in 2010? We need to find a new Ronaldo."
But since then 30-year-old Ronaldo, who hasn`t played for Brazil since the World Cup, has reiterated his desire to return to the international stage and Teixeira has now given his backing to the striker`s quest.
"I include myself with the Brazilians that support the striker to achieve his objective to return to the national team," he said.
"I'm convinced that (Brazil coach Dunga) is attentive and following the performance of every Brazilian player."
