Ronaldo - who scored 62 goals in 98 appearances for his country - is part of the local organising committee for the tournament.

He accompanied his compatriots to Switzerland as they met with the game's governing body to discuss the Confederations Cup in June 2013, among other things.

The tournament is used as a practice event for countries staging the tournament and takes place on year prior to the World Cup.

It was the first time the respective heads of FIFA, the local organising committee and the Brazilian government have met to discuss 2014.

Among the party is former footballer turned politician, Bebeto.

"We would like to deliver the best world cup ever," said Ronaldo, who was crowned world player of the year three times.

Brazilian minister for sport Aldo Rebelo added: "There is no mystery on organizing a World Cup. There are no secrets. The next one will be the 20th World Cup. So we have 19 other examples to get knowledge from. What we need now is hard work and dedication and we have a lot of that at the Brazilian government and the local committee."
