The Portuguese hot-shot helped his boot sponsors Nike launch their new Mercurial Vapor boot – styled in a distinctive fluoro orange colour - by knocking in a second half hat-trick against Newcastle United on the weekend.

But if history is anything to go by, Ronaldo might have had to sneak past Alex Ferguson to get them on the pitch.

Old school Fergie is reported not to be overly happy with his players wearing coloured boots and has told players they weren't allowed to play in certain boots in the past.

But with Ronaldo knocking in three in United 6-0 win over managerless Newcastle, we reckon even the Scottish supremo is a fan of the boots now.

The new Mercurial Vapor is all about making the player faster, with a new aerodynamic design and re-engineered upper.

But how much faster can the boot make you? Head to FourFourTwo Tube and check out the video of Ronaldo racing the world's fastest street car, the Bugatti Veyron. Now that's what we call fast...
