In an interview with Kicker Magazine, the Real Madrid stalwart spoke of his burning desire to achieve what he calls a 'pinnacle' in his playing career - winning an major tournament with Portugal, eight years after he lost to Greece in the final of the 2004 European Championships as a 19-year-old on home soil.

"Portugal are not favourites, which is conducive seeing as we are a young team led by a young selector. The pressure is on bigger teams like Germany, Netherlands and obviously Spain," Ronaldo said.

The forward acknowledged the stark pitfalls they will encounter in Group B but was confident they could emerge into the knockout stages.

"I was disappointed when I saw the draw with Portugal being allotted certainly to the hardest of all groups," he said.

"But the silver lining is that we will be better focused against teams like Germany or Netherlands than we would be against weaker outfits. I will only be fully content with my career when I have lifted a trophy with Portugal."

Ronaldo enters Euro 2012 with the utmost confidence after scoring 46 goals this season in La Liga and he will face Real Madrid team-mates Sami Khedira and Mesut Oezil when Portugal face Germany on June 9 in Lviv.

Asked about the build-up to the much-awaited encounter, the Portuguese said the European Championship draw had been a regular topic among his German colleagues.

"I am especially joking about it with Mesut, seeing as Sami is a little more serious," he said.

"We will have no fear upon stepping on the pitch, only respect for them. There is no pressure on Portugal, so all we have to do is give our maximum and have fun."
