EUROROOS WRAP: Socceroo Scott Chipperfield has continued his recent prolific form scoring the opener in FC Basel's 3-0 win at FC Aarau in the Swiss Super League overnight.
The 34-year-old Australian broke through on 16 minutes with a tidy left-foot finish over Aarau stopper Ivan Benito after Marco Streller's nice throughball.
The strike was Chipperfield's 12th for the campaign and his eighth since returning from injury in mid-February.
Chipperfield, who was booked just before the break, was replaced on the hour mark.
Basel remain three points behind leaders Young Boys, who defeated St Gallen 2-1, with two games to play. The two sides meet on the final day of the season in Bern.
In Croatia's HR Nogometni Cup, former Socceroo Josip Skoko celebrated Hajduk Split's first silverware in five years after 2-0 win over NK Sibenik completed a 4-1 aggregate triumph in the final.
Skoko started and played 79 minutes in Wednesday's second-leg of the final, picking up a booking.
In Norway's Eliteserien, Australian defender Jade North was in the Tromso IL first-team, playing a full game at the back, as they defeated Brann SK 1-0. Tromso remain three points clear at the top.
According to the official Tromso website, North did a good job stepping in for injured vice-captain Miika Koppinen in defence. It was North's fourth start for Tromso and first since mid-April.
In England's Premier League, Mark Schwarzer played a full game but was beaten by a late Matthew Etherington strike as Fulham lost 1-0 at home to Stoke City.
In Russia's Premier League, Luke Wilkshire put in a full shift, picking up a yellow card, as Dinamo Moscow drew 1-1 with Amkar Perm.
In Romania's Liga I, Spase Dilevski played a full game as a holding midfielder for Universitatea Craiova who slumped to a 2-1 loss at battling Ceahlaul Piatra Neamt.
In Sweden's Allsvenskan, Socceroos hopeful Ante Covic was again an unused sub as IF Elfsborg drew 2-2 with Malmo FF.
In Denmark's Superliga, young Aussie Brent McGrath missed out again as Brondby won 4-2 at FC Midtjylland, while Nathan Coe's Randers moved well away from the drop zone with a 3-1 win over Aalborg BK.
In Scotland's Premier League, James Wesolowski and Trent McClenahan both put in full shifts as Hamilton drew 0-0 with St Mirren. McClenahan went close to a late winner with a 20-yard curler which was saved.
Elsewhere in the SPL, Danny Invincibile was a 46th minute substitute as Kilmarnock boosted their survival hopes with a 2-1 win at Aberdeen.
In Scotland's First Division playoffs, North Queensland Fury-bound Simon Storey put in a full shift as Airdrie lost 2-1 at Brechin City in their first-leg semi-final.
