EUROROO WRAP: Mark Schwarzer won the battle of the Australian goalkeepers as Fulham defeated Dean Bouzanis's plucky Accrington Stanley 3-1 in the FA Cup overnight.
Schwarzer, the present Socceroos number one, faced up against 19-year-old Bouzanis, who is tipped to be a future Australian stopper, in an FA Cup encounter between two sides separated by some 70 league places.
And the more senior man wasn't kept terribly busy despite a rallying start from League Two side Accrington, who went into the break on level terms at 1-1 although they were down to ten men.
Bouzanis, who is on loan at Accrington from Liverpool, might have done better for Damian Duff's goal which made it 2-1 but overall he acquitted himself well.
Elsewhere, Aussie goalkeeper Adam Federici made a couple of good late saves to help Reading produce another FA Cup upset as they defeated Burnley 1-0.
Patrick Kisnorbo impressed again while Neil Kilkenny was good in midfield as Leeds United claimed a 2-2 draw at Tottenham to force a replay. Both players put in full shifts for the Whites.
Tim Cahill played a full game but didn't have a great day as Everton crashed out following a 2-1 loss to Birmingham City at Goodison Park.
Shane Lowry, back at Aston Villa after a loan stint at Plymouth, was an 86th minute substitute as the Villains defeated Brighton 3-2.
Nick Carle was back on the Crystal Palace subs bench after a journey to China, as the Eagles drew 2-2 at Wolverhampton. Carle, who was an unused sub, hasn't played for Palace since early December.
In England's Premier League, Richard Garcia started and played 70 minutes at Old Trafford, but appeared below his best as Hull City lost 4-0 to Manchester United.
In Belgium's Pro League, Nikita Rukavytsya turned an average performance into gold with two goals in 3 second-half minutes as Roeselare moved out of the drop zone with a 4-1 win at Lokeren.
In Scotland's Premier League, Trent McClenahan had a pretty poor day out, replaced on 69 minutes as Hamilton were thumped 5-1 by Hibernian.
Elsewhere, new Kilmarnock boss Jimmy Calderwood gave Danny Invincibile a full game but Killie slipped to a 1-0 defeat at Aberdeen, while Rocky Visconte was an unused sub as Hearts drew 1-1 at Rangers.
In Italy's Serie B, Carl Valeri was back in the Sassuolo starting line-up but replaced at half-time as they defeated Vicenza 2-1.
In England's Championship, Rhys Williams and Brad Jones were both absent as Middlesbrough drew 1-1 with Swansea City.
In England's League One, Gareth Edds started and played 61 minutes against his old club as Tranmere Rovers lost 1-0 at MK Dons.
In England's League Two, young Aussie Chris Herd slipped in the opener as Lincoln City defeated Bradford City 2-1. Herd, who is on loan at Lincoln from Aston Villa, was replaced on 72 minutes.
Oliver Bozanic played a full game as Aldershot defeated Scott Guyett's Bournemouth 2-1 and Aaron Downes put in a full shift as Chesterfield drew 0-0 at Northampton Town.
Elsewhere in League Two, Shane Cansdell-Sherriff played a full game as Shrewsbury beat Dagenham & Redbridge 2-1 and Daniel Leach put in a full shift as Barnet lost 2-1 at Morecambe.
