MANCHESTER United striker Wayne Rooney is adamant that England will qualify for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
Roy Hodgson's charges face a Wembley double-header with Montenegro and Poland on September 11 and 15 respectively, knowing that only a maximum haul from the two games will guarantee their progression.
England drew both of the away ties with their upcoming opponents and lead Group H by one point, with four wins and as many draws from their eight games.
Rooney warned that England cannot afford to be complacent but insisted that they will achieve their goal.
"We're going to do it. We're going to get to the World Cup," Rooney told the British press.
"I'm confident, we're confident, but you always have to be sure you're not over-confident. These are going to be two tough games for us, but we're good enough to do it.
"They are going to be two tough games, though, because Montenegro and Poland are good sides and their best qualities are on the counter-attack.
"We will have to try and break them down and make sure we don't get caught out at the back. I think we'll do it, but nobody should think it's going to be easy."
The 27-year-old also allayed fears that he would not be fully fit for the crucial fixtures, after appearing to sustain a blow to his ankle in United's 2-1 victory over Sunderland on Saturday.
He added: "I've got a little knock but I'll be fine for England.
"I can't wait to be honest. As soon as the Sunderland game had finished, I started to think about England."
