The 26-year-old played a full match for League One side Coventry City who went down 1-0 to Swindon Town overnight in their season opener.

Post-match, Rose threw cold water on speculation he could be headed to A-League champions Adelaide United.

He told the Coventry Telegraph: “There’s no truth to the rumours at all. I am very, very happy here and love playing for Coventry and love the teams so there’s no truth in the rumours what-so-ever.

“I think it’s just a bit of mischief Down Under. I let my agent deal with those conversations. I am under contract here, I’m really enjoying my football and feel I am developing under the manager and getting better.

“I feel I am learning an awful lot tactically and trying to take that in and I want to have success here.I’m looking forward to pushing on and having a very good season here.”

He added: “I am 26 and I want to push on into my prime so it’s a question of soaking it all in and taking advantage of my opportunities here.”

It was reported that the Reds were after up to three foreign players and as well as England-based Rose as they looked to retain the A-League championship.

Spaniard Aaron Niguez (Braga), Senegalese Mohamed Coullibaly (Sporting Santander) and Paraguayan Pablo Zeballos (Sportivo Luqueño) were said to be in the mix as potential marksmen for the upcoming season.
