The English Premier League side have been busy bringing in new faces under manager Paul Ince and are now cashed up following the sale of David Bentley to Tottenham overnight.

There has been considerable speculation that Bresciano is on the former England international's wanted list.

However, Rovers have stopped well short of saying they are desperate to land the player.

Chairman John Williams told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph: "He’s a player that Paul is monitoring but his absolute priority at the moment is a holding midfield player.”

Their attention is now believed to have turned towards Bresciano's Socceroo sidekick Grella at Serie A side Torino.

Fulham are already trying to land the Aussie but now Rovers have reportedly joined the fight for his signature.

Grella, 28, is said to be available for $7 million - and the UK's Daily Mail has tipped both Bresc and Vinnie to be united in the new look Rovers midfield.

However Bresciano himself has made it clear that he wants to be told about definites not maybes when it comes to a move.

Only yesterday the Palermo midfielder said: "I will work and prepare myself like a Palermo player and I have asked my agent not to call me unless there is a concrete approach.

"I don’t want to repeat last season. I’m concentrated on Palermo and I will be happy to stay."

Bresciano had all but completed a move to Manchester City this time last year only for a row over the method of transfer payments to scupper the deal.
