Phoenix hosts last season's runners-up Newcastle Jets on Sunday in the opening round.

"We're ready," Rudan said.

"We've got a clean bill of health. All the players are fit and firing and can't wait for tomorrow,

"All the talking is done, it's about the actions now."

The new Phoenix boss declined to give much away from his likely starting line-up, including utilising a back three.

He said the performance against the Jets was key on Sunday, with a win a byproduct.

"We're on the right path," Rudan said.

"This is an exciting time, not only for myself as a new coach, but the players. They're chomping at the bit.

"Tomorrow we fight for points. I cannot guarantee a result but I can guarantee 11 players fighting and working hard for each other."
