Rudan says the chance to return to Moore Park would be a dream come true and he flagged the possibility that it could be in the guise of a staff coach in the future.

"If there was an opportunity to work at the club, I'd be all for it. I'd jump at the chance. There'd be no better place than at Sydney FC. I can't speak any more highly of the club and the people," he told au.fourfourtwo.com

"It's got to be the right opportunity obviously but it's a club I have a lot of passion for; I captained and I also won a Championship with them... I want the club to go places and I've still a lot of friends there and the fans were fantastic to me particularly with the send off which will live with me for a long, long time"

There had been some contact with the sky blues about a return during last off-season after Rudan had a stint in the Swiss league with FC Vaduz, under former FC coach Pierre Littbarski.

But the 34-year-old opted for Adelaide United - a club he says has impressed him.

"To be honest, I thought they'd be the only [A-League] club I'd play for," he said. "That didn't happen and we're all professionals who have to make a living."

The towering defender all but ruled out applying for Sydney Rovers as a player or as a coach. But he added that the idea of a second team in the city was good for his former club.

"It's good having west Sydney and it'll make Sydney FC work that little bit harder with the community and the fans," he said.

Rudan was given an emotional on-field farewell from Sydney FC in late 2006 when he moved to J2 club Avispa Fukuoka to once again link up with Littbarski.

Another club favourite Dwight Yorke will get his chance to bid adieu to the sky blue faithful, this time on Sunday in the clash at the SFS against Brisbane Roar.

Yorke left in early season two without ever getting a chance to say a public good-bye to the fans. This will be his chance at a club that still holds him in very high regard.

Rudan remembers Yorke's professionalism at the club with extra sessions, staying back after training to keep himself at the top of his game and his approach to preparing on match day.

Added the defender: "He'll get a proper send off from the fans and we won a championship with him. I'd love to see the fans in Sydney turn out to give him the send off he deserves."
