YOUNG Australian international striker Nikita Rukavytsya is believed to be on the verge of securing a switch to German capital club Hertha Berlin.
au.fourfourtwo.com understands Ukraine-born Rukavytsya, 23, is on his way to Germany in a bid to win a deal with Hertha following his June release from Dutch champions FC Twente.
Rukavytsya, who made two appearances off the bench at the 2010 World Cup, failed to make an impact at Twente, but did spend the second half of last season on loan at Belgian club KSV Roeselare where he scored five goals.
Hertha BSC, who were relegated from the German Bundesliga last season, are on the lookout for a striker following the off-season departure of forward pair Theofanis Gekas and Artur Wichniarek.
Rukavytsya will link up with Hertha, who are coached by Markus Babbel, for a pre-season training camp in Bavaria in Germany's south.
