Roeselare have been preparing for the Belgian relegation playoffs with a trio of practice matches over the last few weeks.

The matches have also afforded Rukavytsya, who is hoping to make the Socceroos' World Cup squad, an opportunity to maintain fitness after Roeselare's league campaign ended in late March.

On Friday they came up against Standard, last season's Pro League champions, with Rukavytsya scoring the only goal of the game early in the second-half after beating the offside trap.

The Australian had a few first-half chances to break the deadlock but had found Standard stopper Kristof Van Hout difficult to beat.

Rukavytsya, who scored twice in a warm-up match against third tier Willebroek-Meerhof a fortnight ago, was replaced on 58 minutes.

Roeselare, who finished 15th in the Belgian Pro League this season, will face KVSK United, Mons and Eupen in the relegation playoffs.

Elsewhere overnight, in Germany's 3rd Liga, ex-Adelaide United defender Milan Susak started but was replaced on 66 minutes as SpVgg Unterhaching lost 3-1 at VfB Stuttgart II.

In Ireland's Premier Division, Aussie goalkeeper Chris O'Connor was an unused sub as champions Bohemians drew 0-0 with UCD, to slip six points behind leaders St Patrick's Athletic.
