The 23-year-old former Perth Glory man has become a regular in the Hertha Berlin line-up since his off-season move to the German capital, scoring once and providing several assists, before a thigh injury interrupted his progress a fortnight ago.

Hertha currently lead the German 2.Bundesliga and Osieck told The West Australian that Rukavytsya is in the ideal environment to develop as a player.

"To go to Berlin, it's not really a second division team because it's a big club with big history and the environment is very specific and very demanding," Osieck said.

"If he goes through that experience and really can establish himself at that level and probably play next year in the top flight, then for his personal development he would be in an excellent position."

Hertha are coached by former German international Markus Babbel who Osieck has a close association with, which will benefit Rukavytsya.

"I talked to the coach, who was my ex-player in the youth national team, so therefore I have a very close contact," Osieck said. "He was full of praise and said he's doing well.

"Unfortunately he is out due to a muscle injury right now. But he's definitely one of the young players who will be in the future Socceroos team."

According to the Berliner Morgenpost, Rukavytsya could return from injury this Sunday when Hertha face midtable SC Paderborn 07 in 2.Bundesliga.
