SOCCEROOS hopeful Nikita Rukavytsya fired in a second-half double for KSV Roeselare as they defeated Lokeren 4-1 in the Belgian Pro League.
The 22-year-old Australian striker, who is on loan at Roeselare from Dutch club FC Twente, had a mixed game before grabbing two goals in less than five minutes.
Roeselare were sitting last on the Pro League table but began the game with intent although Rukavytsya wasted a decent early chance.
On 24 minutes, though, Roeselare took the lead when Bertin Tomou netted and the visitors took that advantage into the break.
Straight after half-time, Rukavytsya was at the heart of a swift Roeselare counter-attack which saw Joeri Dequevy's effort saved by Lokeren goalkeeper Jugoslav Lazic.
But the Aussie soon made a horrible mistake when his poor backpass allowed Mario Carevic in, but he fired over the bar.
Rukavytsya was quick to atone for his error, after Tomou's pass set him up and the Aussie remained calm to score past Lazic.
Minutes later, Dequevy provided the assist for Rukavytsya who hit his shot into the roof of the net.
The Aussie was given an early rest a few minutes later, with Lokeren pulling one back, before Dequevy sealed a great three points for Roeselare who leapfrog their opponents out of the drop zone.
