The Bundesliga champions surrendered a 3-1 lead to draw 3-3 at home to Bochum at the weekend and they have already slipped seven points behind league leaders Hamburg.

Klinsmann only took over at the Allianz Arena in the summer from legendary boss Ottmar Hitzfeld, and Rummenigge claims he will still be there come the end of the campaign.

"We are convinced by Jurgen and his philosophy," he told the Bild newspaper. "He is the right coach for us.

"In theory he is doing everything right. Only the results are at his moment in time not the right ones. We at Bayern will continue to have the necessary patience in order to get back on a successful track."

Bayern have won just two of their opening seven games this term and lie 11th in the table, behind newly-promoted sides Hoffenheim and Cologne.

Questions have also been raised in the German press about Klinsmann's choice of club captain in Mark van Bommel, but Rummenigge still has faith in the former Germany coach.

"We trust him," he said. "We will analyse things together with Jurgen.

"Bayern - and therefore in particular the fans - will have to prove this season, whether it it only stable when there is success or whether we also have the patience and can muster the faith to go once on totally new paths."

Asked who would be on the bench at the end of the season, Rummenigge said: "Jurgen Klinsmann. Definitively. There is no doubt about it."

The Bayern post is Klinsmann's first club job, two years after he stepped down as Germany boss following the 2006 World Cup.

And despite his relative inexperience and their poor start, he insists he can still lead his under-performing team to the title this season.

"The season is 34 games long and there are many points to award," he said. "Hamburg have been very strong up until now - but they will surely lose some by the end, won't they?"

The former striker claimed he was not worried about losing his job, adding: "I am a battling sort and an optimist. And that has meant that in my sporting career up to now I have always achieved my goals - as player and coach.

"There are always difficult periods and I have had to put up with much in this time. But I have always gone about my jobs with the appropriate optimism - and at the end there was always jubilation and happiness. And so it will be this time."
