A Russian man has claimed to be haunted by an Andrey Arshavin looking ghost in one of Moscow's suburbs, despite the former Arsenal midfielder still being alive and well.

Arshavin, now 37 years of age, retired from professional football in December last year after a career that saw him appear over 100 times for Arsenal and make 75 caps for Russia.

Now Arshavin may be part of one of the weirdest investigations as one man reported strange sightings of the Russian player in a ghost-like manner.

Haunting Russian suburbs rather than defenders

First reported by the Ren-TV broadcaster before being picked up by The Moscow Times, the report is now being investigated by Russian police.

The 'victim' comes from Lobnya, just north of Moscow, and says Arshavin's ghost has the ability to pass through walls as well as attacking the man and stealing his money.

Perhaps the man is longing for Arshavin to come out of retirement after finishing his playing career at Kazakhstan's FC Kairat.

Arshavin has not yet commented on the accusations, in what may be a job for some paranormal investigators rather than the police.
