PSV Eindhoven coach Fred Rutten has accused his players of lacking passion after they were soundly beaten by AZ Alkmaar in their Eredivisie opener.
The Eindhoven club are aiming to win their first league title since 2008, but got their campaign off to the worst possible start with a 3-1 loss at the AFAS Stadion.
Goals from Maarten Martens, Nick Viergever and Jozy Altidore did the damage for the home side, with Dries Mertens replying for PSV.
And Rutten was less than impressed with his players' attitude.
"We want to win the title but demonstrated a lack of ambition on the pitch," he said on www.psv.nl.
"To cut a long story short: I had not expected my team to put in such a poor first-half display.
"PSV are an ambitious club. The coaching staff and squad should share the same dream: win the title.
"But we were really slow to get started, which I had not anticipated at all."
