ASIAROOS WRAP: Ryan Griffiths has nudged Beijing Guoan one step closer to the Chinese Super League title with a goal in Saturday's 2-1 win at Dalian Shide.
The capital club now simply needs to win at home against relegation battlers Hangzhou Lucheng on the final day to secure the Chinese title.
The Australian striker has proved prolific at the business end of the season, in the absence of his suspended brother Joel, with Ryan netting twice in Beijing's victory over Guangzhou last weekend.
And the 28-year-old Sutherland product got Guoan off to a flyer after just nine minutes with the opener.
Dalian goalkeeper Sun Shoubo couldn't handle a long-range effort and the rebound fell to Guoan's Emil Martinez who coolly rounded the keeper before pushing a shot towards the goal with Griffiths arriving at pace to make sure of it.
Later in the first-half, Griffiths spurned a glorious opportunity to double Beijing's lead when Wang Ke's ambitious effort cannoned back off the post into the Australian's path but his managed to put the rebound over with his head.
But Guoan wouldn't rue the miss, with Yan Xiangchuang setting up Huang Bowen for the second on 73 minutes, before the hosts grabbed a late consolation courtesy of Li Kai.
The result means victory for Guoan next weekend will secure them the title, while their closest rivals Henan Construction (level on points with Guoan, but behind by five goals on goal difference) go to struggling Shenzhen.
Elsewhere in the CSL, Mark Milligan played a full game as Shanghai Shenhua drew 1-1 at relegated Chongqing Lifan. Fifth-placed Shenhua can still qualify for the AFC Champions League although it appears unlikely.
Brendon Santalab played a full game for Chengdu Blades as they were thumped 3-0 at home by Shenzhen. Chengdu, though, are officially safe from the drop.
Over in Japan's J.League, Eddy Bosnar was part of the JEF United Chiba which was pulled apart by title-hunting Kashima Antlers. Kashima won 3-0, leaving JEF on the verge of relegation some 9 points adrift of safety with games running out.
