Young Socceroo, Ryan Williams has joined promotion-chasing League Two outfit Gillingham from EPL-side Fulham on a one-month loan with an option of an extension.
The promising winger hasn’t had a senior start for the EPL team since moving from Portsmouth a year ago for just over $450,000.
“I'm delighted to be involved in a first team again and a first team that is winning and pushing for automatic promotion,” Williams told OSAussies.com
Ryan joins Fulham teammate, Corey Gameiro (Wellington Phoenix), and Newcastle United’s Curtis Good (Bradford City) as Young Socceroos who have gone out on-loan in order to get senior football. Australia is set to take part in the U20s World Cup 2013 in Turkey which will run from June 21 to July 13.
“Any games will be good preparation but especially first team games where I can get some experience and learn more from the game,” said the young West Australian.
With the Young Socceroos having both overseas and Austraia-based players getting first team football, the Aussies could be going into the tournament with a far more experienced team than recent squads.
