To see fans react to Kaka's possible sale...

The Brazil international is pondering a record transfer to City, where his salary would increase dramatically to a reported £500,000 a week.

But former AC Milan and Italy boss Sacchi said to Rai's GR Parlamento: "Greed is a bad advisor.

"If I was Kaka I would think hard before going to Manchester City.

"You can grow with skill and work, not only with money."

Sacchi, who last month advised Milan to sign England midfielder David Beckham on a two-month loan deal from the Los Angeles Galaxy, hopes that if the Rossoneri sell Kaka, it will be for the right reasons.

"Milan would make a mistake if they send Kaka away to buy three or four players," Sacchi said.

"There is only one Kaka, he is a star and a professional.

"If they sell him, Milan should do it to balance their budget and find up-and-coming players.

"I don't know if Milan will sell Kaka but if they do, you have to accept it and respect that decision."

Kaka, 26, is the highest-paid player on the books of Milan, earning a reported 9.5million euros (£8.5million) per season.

Sacchi believes Kaka could demand an even higher salary if he remains, now that another club has been willing to give him such a huge increase.

If Milan were to pay Kaka more money, however, Sacchi claimed it might create friction with the other players in the squad.

"The club should keep Kaka if the numbers allow them to keep him," he said.

"(AC Milan owner Silvio) Berlusconi will probably be very divided, but he must make a decision based on reason."

Kaka is under contract at AC Milan until June 2013.
