New Everton signing Louis Saha has accepted the challenge to prove he can overcome his injury nightmares and still be a top Premier League striker.
The French forward has ended a bitterly frustrating four and a half years at Manchester United to try to salvage his career at Everton.
However, such is Saha's fortunes with injuries he is still a month away from recovering from a calf problem before he can make his debut for the Merseysiders.
"I hope the best of me is still to come. I am honest and I want this challenge," he said.
Saha has moved from Old Trafford on a deal that sees the fee paid on a pay-as-you-play basis, rising it is believed to £2million.
The Frenchman knows he has to prove that he can recover his form after a succession of knee, cartilage and muscle injuries that dogged his time with the champions, although he scored 42 goals in 124 games.
"It was a very frustrating time at Manchester United. I played in a side that won plenty of trophies and with some really great players," he said.
"When I played I scored regularly but the constant injuries were hard to take. I could play half a dozen games and then be out again and back to square one.
"The boss (Sir Alex Ferguson) called me in during the summer and said maybe it was better if I moved on.
"I accepted that; it had been a great time there and I have nothing but praise for the club, the players and the fans.
"But I have to move on and I am at a very good club who have the potential to break into the top four."
He added: "It was the right time to leave and joining Everton is a great move for me. A big club with big support.
"Now I put pressure on myself. I want to achieve the best, I can do that at Everton and that is my own pressure.
"I had the winning mentality drummed into me at Manchester United. You don't settle for a draw, you want to win. That is the way I have learned to play as a striker.
"I just want to be fit and play games regularly. I was coming back to my best at United, now I feel I need half a dozen games to be at my best.
"I still believe I can show the form that persuaded Manchester United to buy me. I scored a lot of goals for United, I know I can do that again.
"It was hard to leave United. I took a long time to think about what I wanted to do next, I had a great time there and it was a big club to leave.
"I have friends already here. (Former United players) Tim Howard and Phil Neville, great players, and they have enjoyed their move to Everton and so will I."
