The 48-year-old, who was part of West Germany's victorious squad in 1990, has reportedly signed a one-year deal and will join the squad in Turkey for a pre-season training camp.

Littbarski takes charge following the departure of Ali Daei, who left the club in May after leading them to the Iranian league title in 2007 and the quarter-finals of this season's Asian Champions League.

Littbarski had two spells in charge of Yokohama FC and also led Sydney FC to the inaugural A-League title in 2006.

"He is a good coach for our team," a club official said. "He is familiar with Japanese and Australian football.

"He immediately started working with the team and this will help the players.
