Mohammed Salah has added his say to the debate on the exportation of stray animals in his homeland of Egypt with a tweet opposing the plans.

The debate began with reports last week of Egypt's agriculture ministry approving the exportation of 4,000 stray cats and dogs overseas.

The Liverpool star was quick to tweet his opposition of these plans:

Salah’s tweet includes pictures of him with his pair of Siamese cats with the caption: “Cats and dogs will not be exported anywhere. This won't happen and can't happen."

The tweet also included the hashtag, "no to animal rights violations".

His forward thinking defence against the exportation of stray animals will no doubt win him even more fans in his homeland, where he remains the darling of a nation.

Salah ‘s hero status was confirmed when one million votes were cast for him in the Egyptian election, despite Salah not being a candidate.

Many have taken to social media to applaud his stance and no doubt will hope his star power will help reverse the reported decision.

Salah was involved in Liverpool's 2-1 loss against PSG earlier this morning, putting the Reds in a tough position to make the knockout stages.

Liverpool will need to beat Napoli and hope that Serbian side FK Crvena Zvezda could pull off an upset and and pick up at least a point against PSG to make the round of 16.
