EXCLUSIVE: Matildas star and “MoSista” Sally Shipard dropped by FourFourTwo’s HQ this morning and left sporting a distinctive Mo-mento of her visit – courtesy of FFT’s ill-conceived artistic efforts.
Inspired by the Movember charity, the 24-year-old Australian international and W-League star is raising money for male prostate cancer and depression (http://mosista.co/salship) with her own unique take on Movember.
FourFourTwo jumped on-board to sponsor Sally and as part of that commitment, it was our task to apply a “Mo” to her telegenic face this morning.
Despite the silliness of the fake moustache image, Shipard says there’s a serious side to the charity.
“I think it’s worthwhile, that’s what I’m doing, raising awareness through things like the 442 guys sponsoring me. And if it can also put a smile on a face then that’s fun.
“As for playing football with a mo on my face that’s been fun too. It brings a smile to many faces and there have been many, many encounters – some quite embarrassing - and emotions felt.
“It’s been quite character building and I guess it’s become somewhat of a social experiment just to see how people react.”
After a conversation with friend Lucy Muir in WA last year, Shipard decided she’d cover the east coast of Australia and her friend the west coast.
“Considering Sal is the quintessential artist on the pitch, it seemed perfectly apt that we should choose Spanish artist Salvador Dali for her FourFourTwo Mo,” said FourFourTwo editor Trevor Treharne.
