The teenager only joined Central Coast on a scholarship in June from the Wanderers.

Silvera, an Olyroo at 18, has been tipped for big things after starring for the Mariners in pre-season.

He was named as Western Sydney's Under-20 player of the year in 2017.

The winger has been selected in the Central Coast squad for the season opener at BankWest Stadium.

"We're focusing on us and hopefully I've done enough [to make the team]," Silvera told FTBL.

"I've worked hard in training to get on that pitch. I've been waiting for this moment [my debut] for a long time, hopefully I get that opportunity on Saturday."

Silvera says he swapped Western Sydney for the Mariners because he saw a better chance to play in the first-team.

This week he signed his first professional contract, tying him to the club until the end of the 2021/22 season.

"I just felt that Central Coast Mariners would give me a better opportunity to play first-team football," he said.

"Leaving was difficult, it was a comfortable environment for me. I was doing well, my friends and family are in that area. But it was time to move on and try and challenge myself. I think that was definitely best for me.

"They've given me the best opportunity so far. I think it's the best place for me to grow and improve. There was no second thought about re-signing."

Silvera, who can play on either wing and as a number 10, admits his first full pre-season has been a shock to the system.

"I feel pre-season's been difficult for me, it's been tough but it's improved me a lot," he said.

"In regards to the season it should be beneficial. We're ready for it. We're feeling pretty confident, we'll go there on a high and hopefully get the win."

The attacking midfielder believes he is thriving under the coaching of Alen Stajcic.

"I've honestly loved it so far, he's very high-performance," he said.

"He always wants the best for you. He's come in and changed the environment and it's looking a much-positive and beter environment to work in. Just the way the style he's brought in and the training has helped us.

"Hopefully we can carry that into the season."
