The Senegal international told new boss Lawrie Sanchez at the end of last season he wanted a new challenge.

Now he is waiting for a move to another Premier League side to be completed so he can try to gain the silverware that never once looked like coming his way at Fulham.

He said: "I told the new manager in the summer I wanted a new challenge and now he has said yes. He said 'now this is my team so if you want to leave go ahead'.

"I have many offers and I am just waiting. I will stay in England in the Premier League. I have had a good pre-season and I'm ready. I'm just waiting.

"This is my fourth season with Fulham and I have never won anything. I want to win something or play in the UEFA Cup or the Champions League. I don't want to play for the other 15 or 16 clubs.

"I don't know if it will be anyone like Arsenal or Manchester United but I have good teams in England interested and I must wait. I don't want to say who they are yet.

"But I do expect to have left Fulham by the time the transfer window closes.

"I want a fresh challenge. And now the clubs know how much money Fulham want. But I don't have any control over that. I am just focused on my job."

Sanchez did not try to persuade Diop, who will play for his country in a friendly with Ghana tomorrow, to stay as he was keen to fund more signings, having brought in almost a new team in over the summer, including Senegal international Diomansy Kamara and several of the Northern Ireland side he used to manage.

Diop added: "Lawrie is different and wanted players who played with him for Ireland but I decided I wanted to leave last summer because Fulham are always in the same situation.

"Maybe I have played my last game for Fulham. In football you never know. Maybe I will leave before the weekend or after this game."

The Senegal-Ghana clash takes place at Millwall's New Den ground and is being used as a warm-up for the forthcoming African Nations Cup tournament, which will see a host of Premier League stars become unavailable for club duties in January.
