Lawrie Sanchez insists that talks about his future can wait until after the next two Euro 2008 qualifiers.
The Irish Football Association are keen for the manager to extend his stay after taking Northern Ireland up to 47th spot in the world rankings.
Sanchez's current contract expires at the end of this qualifying campaign and club management could be an option.
However the former Wycombe Wanderers boss insists his long-term plans are "not on his agenda".
Instead he is focusing on plotting a path past bottom-of-the-table Liechtenstein tonight and group leaders Sweden on Wednesday.
Sanchez said: "I have had no discussions with the IFA regarding my future beyond this campaign.
"It is a distraction I do not need at the moment as I am concentrating on the game tonight.
"When we get through these two games then that will be the time to talk about things like that.
"It is not on my agenda at this time."
Northern Ireland could find themselves shock leaders of Group F on Wednesday, depending on results.
They go into the match against Liechtenstein with a healthy total of seven points from four games.
Sanchez said: "I am enjoying 95% of my work with Northern Ireland. I love it.
"Whatever my tenure is, hopefully it will be looked back on as a time when pride was restored to Northern Ireland football.
"If you are not an international manager, you are looking to be in charge of a club. I need to work."
Sanchez believes it is dangerous to dismiss Liechtenstein as pushovers, even though they have not gained a point from three qualifiers.
In the previous meeting between the two sides, the friendly finished in a 0-0 stalemate.
The principality have a new coach in Hans-Peter Zaugg and this will his first competitive match in charge following his appointment in December.
Sanchez said: "They managed a draw against Portugal so we have got to be professional.
"Also you never know what will happen when a new coach comes in.
"I would imagine the players will be trying to impress him.
"It is a game people are predicting we will win. If we don't then some people will be writing obituaries.
"We are focused on getting the three points and going home."
Record goalscorer David Healy looks certain to return to the side after missing the warm-up match against Wales - which finished 0-0 - with a broken bone in his elbow.
The Leeds striker will be looking to improve on a superb record - 24 goals in 54 international appearances.
Sanchez said: "It is nice to have David available. He is a proven goalscorer.
"Sometimes when we don't have him in the team we are not as potent in front of goal.
"Everyone in the squad recognises that and we are pleased he has recovered from injury quicker than we thought he would."
With Chris Baird sidelined with a groin injury, Michael Duff could step in at right back.
Jonny Evans, on loan to Sunderland from Manchester United, looks set to win his fourth cap.
The 19-year-old prospect has yet to play on a losing side for the province.
He made his debut in the victory against Spain and followed that mature performance with similar sound displays in the draw with Denmark and the defeat of Latvia.
