SOCCEROO Adam Sarota is being shopped around to A-League clubs including Western Sydney Wanderers after FC Utrecht told him to explore loan opportunities.
The 23-year-old former Brisbane Roar defensive midfielder managed only eight appearances for Utrecht last term and appears out of the first-team frame ahead of the next campaign.
According to the Adelaide Advertiser, Sarota has been told by the Eredivisie outfit to investigate loan opportunities as he enters the final season of his three-year contract, with Australia, Japan and China said to be among the possibilities.
Sarota had been close to a loan move in January to Eerste Divisie outfit Sparta Rotterdam but the deal failed to eventuate.
David Mitchell, who has been tasked with helping Sarota find a new club, told the Adelaide Advertiser: "Adam wants to come back to Australia and play regularly and force his way back into the Socceroos.
"Utrecht said it would be a good move so he has the chance to play regular football at a good level."
Adelaide United boss John Kosmina all but ruled the Reds out of a move for Sarota.
"I think he's a quality player but would I use him to replace what I've got at the moment?" Kosmina told the Adelaide Advertiser. "He's asking for a decent contract as well. Would that money be better spent elsewhere?"
However, it is understood, Utrecht would be willing to pay the majority of Sarota's wage, with an Australian club asked to spend the A-League's average $120,000 wage for the one-year loan.
Sarota, who has two caps for Australia, left Brisbane for Utrecht in 2010 alongside Michael Zullo and Tommy Oar.
The young midfielder made eight appearances in his first season in the Netherlands and started the 2011-12 season well, before dropping down the pecking order once coach Jan Wouters took over.
