SOCCEROO Sasa Ognenovski says he's so desperate to fulfill his lifelong dream of playing in Germany's Bundesliga he'd sign a contract which could see him unpaid if he got injured.
Late bloomer Ognenovski, who won the 2010 AFC Champions League and 2010 AFC Player of the Year award with Seongnam Ilhwa, has previously made no secret of his desire to play in Germany.
The 32-year-old ex-Adelaide United defender explained to The Age the lengths he'd go to to play in the Bundesliga before it's too late.
''Playing there has been my aim since I started playing football,” Ognenovski said.
“I have always wanted to play in the Bundesliga and now I have got to hope that somebody is willing to take a bit of a risk. I don't see it as a risk but they might because of my age.
''I will back my body any day. It's fine. I would sign a contract so that they didn't have to pay me if I got injured.
“I still feel I can get better as a player. But it's just about a club taking a chance and signing me.'
Ognenovski added: ''It would be 100 per cent the biggest thing in my career to get to Germany. It was a brilliant win there with the Socceroos earlier this year.
“For me it was the best feeling to play against a team, which is my second favourite team in world football… to play against them and beat them on their home turf was amazing.”
The Melbourne-born defender, who missed out on a contract in the first season of the A-League, said he believes the fact he's a late bloomer to the game could work to his benefit in chasing down a contract.
''I got going at the top level so late that I have still got improvement in me. I think I can become a better player as I age if I get the chance to play in a higher league,” he said.
