Malaysia coach B Sathianathan and team manager Soh Chin Aun have had their contracts terminated by the country's Football Association.
The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by Football Association Malaysia President Sultan Ahmad Shah.
Malaysia suffered a disappointing 5-0 Asian Cup home qualifying defeat to UAE on January 21, after which Sathianathan was fiercely critical of the standard of the country's domestic competition the M-League.
It followed an underwhelming Suzuki Cup campaign, when they crashed out in the group stages.
"The FAM executive committee meeting chaired by FAM president Sultan Ahmad Shah were unanimous in their decision to terminate Sathianathan and Chin Aun's services," FAM deputy president Redzuan Sheikh Ahmad said.
"Sathianathan will be given a month's notice while Chin Aun's termination takes effect immediately."
No decision has yet been made on Sathianathan's replacement.
"The post of the new head coach will be discussed soon by the management committee for the national team headed by Sultan Ahmad Shah," Ahmad added.
