A 3-0 win over St Pauli, thanks in part to two goals from Raul, took Schalke out of the bottom three in the Bundesliga and gave manager Felix Magath a more positive outlook.

"I am happy with the way we played and, above all, with the result," he said.

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the fans for their patience over recent weeks.

"Now we can look forwards with optimism and hopefully celebrate our next win soon."

Raul's second and third goals in the Bundesliga came after recent criticism of the Spanish striker, who affirmed that he had "not lost my goalscoring touch".

"I dedicate this win to the team and the fans," he said on his club's website.

"I think that this 3-0 win could be the start of a winning streak.

"I am very happy at Schalke. My team-mates are all very kind and I speak a lot with the coach."

Klaas Jan Huntelaar scored the Royal Blues' other goal and he says this win must only be a starting point for the Gelsenkirchen club.

"We have to carry on collecting points," he said. "We have won today, but we still only have nine points in the Bundesliga.

"Now, our attention turns straightaway to Wolfsburg."

The Wolves are Schalke's next opponents next Saturday at the VW-Arena.
