UNDER-fire Real Madrid coach Bernd Schuster insists he has not thought about quitting the Spanish champions.
Madrid have endured a miserable last couple of weeks with elimination from the Copa del Rey, at the hands of Segunda Division B side Real Union, followed by a 1-0 reverse at Real Valladolid last weekend. That defeat saw Schuster's side slip to fourth in the Primera Liga, prompting speculation he may be on his way out of the Bernabeu.
Such talk was stifled when Schuster received a vote of confidence from sporting director Predrag Mijatovic on Monday evening, with president Ramon Calderon also insisting the club had no intention of pressing the panic button just yet.
And the Madrid boss claims that is all that matters.
"I never thought about resigning because there is no reason to whatsoever," said Schuster, who added he was more concerned by tomorrow's home match with struggling Recreativo Huelva.
"Having the club's support is all that matters to a coach.
"The only thing I can do is continue doing my job.
"We are going to try to win tomorrow's match and all those that follow. I am totally calm."
Despite Mijatovic's backing, reports continue to circulate suggesting the club are lining up AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti as Schuster's replacement.
However, the 48-year-old claims he laughs off all rumours concerning him.
"I am amazed how people can report things that never occur," added Schuster. "I laugh about it with my friends, but it's incredible.
"Nothing that has been reported in the last few days has been true."
Asked whether defeat against Recreativo, who sit second from bottom in the table, could spell the end of his time at the Bernabeu, Schuster retorted: "If it was up to you yes, if it's up the club I will stay much longer."
