The 40-year-old goalkeeper played a big role in his Australia's 1-1 draw with Japan on Tuesday, but it looks like his days at Craven Cottage are numbered despite the fact he was first choice there last season.

Following weeks of speculation, Netherlands international Stekelenburg officially joined Fulham on a four-year-deal from Roma on Wednesday.

When asked about the signing, Schwarzer told News Ltd: "That's what I've heard (Stekelenburg's signing) and I've been hearing that for a while so it's no great surprise and I'll be looking for another club.

"Nothing has been sorted at the moment."

The Australian insisted he wants to keep playing first-team football and when asked if the A-League was an option, he said: "Not at this stage, no. My family's settled and the kids are in school and I wouldn't (move) my family anyway.

"And when you talk about the length of season, it's never ideal when it finishes in April so, as far as I'm concerned, I'll try and stay in Europe for as long as possible and England would be ideal."

Fulham's capture of Stekelenburg signals their fourth signing already following deals completed for Sascha Riether, Derek Boateng and Fernando Amorebieta.
