Where Australia have enjoyed a clear week of preparation, Uzbekistan played at the weekend and then had to board a flight Down Under.

It is a situation Australia have had to face on numerous occasions though and Schwarzer says if the Socceroos can cope with such challenges then so too can Uzbekistan.

The Fulham keeper admits he'd rather have enjoyed Australia's build up to such a big match though.

"It's obviously not ideal. If you had a chance to put down a schedule and an ideal preparation then you  wouldn't be wanting to play on  Saturday and then travelling 15 hours to come to Australia to play another game on a Wednesday night.

"However, that's the way it is. We've shown before that we can do it and I'm sure they've done it before as well. I'm sure on Wednesday night they'll be ready for the game," said Schwarzer.

Tomorrow's clash gives Schwarzer another chance to impress in the city where he has performed heroics on more than one World Cup occasion before. He is keen to add further good memories to the collection rather than rest on past triumphs though.

He said: "It's the city where I was born, grew up and love. I've been fortunate so far throughout my career. And I say so far because this is another campaign, another day, another game and anything can happen. From my point of view I want it to continue to be a great lucky city for me."

Should Australia triumph then all eyes and ears will be on the clash between Bahrain and Qatar which kicks off in the early hours of Thursday morning.

A draw in that game would see the Socceroos confirmed as 2010 qualifiers. Schwarzer isn't thinking about that though.

He joked: "I'll probably go to bed and get an alarm set. No, I've always said from day one that I don't want to think too far ahead. All I want to do is take each game as it comes and make sure we get the job done."
